Local businesses and residents report discolored water; Columbia Water and Light continues to investigate
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Several Columbia homes and businesses continue to report discolored water.
Columbia Water and Light says the discoloration is because of stirred calcium bicarbonate after a water main break on north Stadium near I-70.
City officials say the water is safe to drink and are recommending people let the water run for several minutes to flush out the pipes.
Officials with the department say it is unknown why this incident was so widespread. Crews are investigating and the department will know more in the morning.
Columbia Water and Light says its confident the water will clear up.
Columbia Water and Light asks anyone who experiences low water pressure to call the Contact Center at 573-874-2489 and leave an address so they can better locate problem areas.
