One woman was pronounced dead on scene by Callaway County paramedics after she was hit by a car on I-70.

Kathleen Staten, 61, from East St. Louis was standing in the driving lane of I-70 when she was hit by a car, according to a crash report.

The car that hit Staten belonged to 32 year old Ashley Hardesty who was traveling west on I-70 in the left lane before changing lanes and hitting Staten.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol had the right lane of I-70 shut down Friday night near mile marker 153 for that investigation.

This crash is MSHP Troop F's 2nd fatality in the month of January.
