Family displaced after a kitchen fire in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on the 700 block of St. Mary’s Boulevard Monday night.

According to the release, the first crews found light smoke coming from the front of the residence and after entering the residence found the fire in the kitchen.

Officials say fire crews brought the fire under control using a fire extinguisher. The fire was contained to the stove and cabinets.

Three engines, one ladder truck, one rescue squad, and one chief officer responded to the incident according to the press release.

Officials say two adults and three children were displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
