WESTPHALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A crane was used Tuesday to remove a truck that caused a bridge over the Maries River to collapse the day before.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol posted photos showing the crane removing the truck from the river where the Pentecostal Bridge had stood. The bridge collapsed Monday when the truck drove onto it.

The patrol reported Monday that the bridge, which had a 5-ton weight limit, collapsed when the 20-ton tractor-trailer carrying feed drove onto it. No one was hurt.

Osage County Sheriff Mike Bonham said in a Facebook post that the bridge had a place in local history.

"And many, many rites of passage (graduations, weddings, family reunions) were marked in time by a photo taken on that bridge," the post says.
