Suspect dead after officer-involved shooting in Morgan County

MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Pettis County Sheriff's Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Morgan County that ended with one suspect dead.

In a news release, the Pettis County Sheriff said two Morgan County Deputies were shot at by a man suspected of a burglary. This happened Saturday morning at the intersection of Fairgrounds Road and Mystical Lane.

Deputies shot back and hit the suspect multiple times, according to the news release. Deputies then contacted EMS for the suspect, but he was later declared dead.

Neither deputy was injured, according to the news release.

Because of department policy, both deputies were placed on administrative leave and the Pettis County Sheriff is conducting an independent investigation.
