Missing marine found, is being held at Crawford County Jail

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A marine who was reported missing last month has been found and was in custody in the Crawford County Jail on Wednesday evening.

Private First Class Kavian Elder was reported missing on May 22, according to previous reporting from information from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office. A Marine Corps spokesman wrote in an email that “the Marine Corps is working with the civil authorities to transfer custody.”

“U.S. Marine Corps Training Command is grateful for his safe retrieval and will work on all required administrative processes once the custody transfer is complete,” Maj.  Joshua Pena wrote.

Jail records indicate that Elder was booked into the jail at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday and is accused of a federal violation. Elder was attending Fort Leonard Wood for specialty school, according to previous reporting.
