JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Gov. Mike Parson signed Executive Order 24-06 initiating the Missouri State Emergency Operations Plan after recent severe weather impacted communities across the state, according to a Thursday press release from the governor's office

The order is in response to severe weather and flooding the occurred from April 25-28, with additional storms and rain expected to impact the state over the next week.

“We have seen the tremendous power and destruction of this past weekend’s storms in neighboring states, and with areas of Missouri already impacted, we want to ensure state resources are available should significant disruptions or damage occur,” Parson said in a statement.

The executive order will expire on May 30, but it could end early or be extended, the release says.
