ABC 17 News set to air special on solar eclipse

On Monday at 12:00 p.m., ABC 17 News will begin three hours of live team coverage on the 2024 total solar eclipse.

ABC 17 Stormtrack Chief Meteorologist Jessica Hafner and ABC 17 News Anchor Lucas Geisler are expected to lead coverage from the path of totality in Carbondale, Ill.

ABC 17 News crews will also be stationed throughout Mid-Missouri and in Poplar Bluff to give viewers the complete experience from multiple perspectives.

While Mid-Missouri won't be in the full path of totality, residents could still get a good show with over 90% coverage of the sun by the moon.

This will be the last total solar eclipse for the United States until 2044 making this an exciting chance to see the event firsthand. Watch the special at 12:00 p.m. on KMIZ or right here on abc17news.com
