MDC: 193,669 deer harvested during November portion of firearms season

Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation shows that 193,669 deer were harvested in the state during the November portion of firearms deer season, according to a Wednesday press release.

The season ran from Nov. 11-21. Of the harvested deer, 105,614 were antlered bucks, 16,081 were button bucks, and 71,974 were does, the release states.

Top harvest counties – according to MDC data -- were Franklin with 4,289 deer harvested, Texas with 4,208 and Howell with 3,749 and Callaway with 3,211.

Around Mid-Missouri, Montgomery County had 2,091 deer harvested, while Boone County had 2,022, Pettis was 1,990 and Miller had 1,921, according to MDC data

The release states that this year’s harvest total was 3% lower than last year and 2% higher than the previous five-year average
