Two teens dead after motorcycle crash in southwest Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says two teens are dead after a single motorcycle crash Wednesday in Barry County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on Highway 248 just one mile east of Cassville.

Troopers say, Ryan L. Wilson, 19, and his 14-year-old passenger, both of Cassville, were traveling eastbound on State Highway 248 at the time of the crash.

Troopers say Wilson lost control of his motorcycle, ran off the right side of the road, and hit an embankment causing himself and the other teen to be thrown from the motorcycle.

The Highway Patrol says Wilson's passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by a Barry County Coroner at 9:40 p.m. Wilson was later pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital in Springfield at 10:09 p.m.

The next of kin have been notified and it's unknown if both Wilson and the other teen were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

MSHP says these are Troop D's 42nd and 43rd fatalities for 2023.
