JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Gov. Mike Parson will sign a bill creating a statewide prescription drug monitoring database.

Missouri will end its status as the only state without a prescription drug monitoring program once the bill becomes law. Legislators have considered creating a program that will allow doctors and pharmacies to track patients' prescriptions for several years. Before this year's session, those efforts were held up by conservatives who cited privacy concerns.
