Former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens announces Senate bid for Blunt’s seat

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens announced Monday afternoon his intentions to replace Roy Blunt in the US Senate.

Greitens made the announcement while speaking to Bret Baier on Fox News.

Greitens released the following statement in a press release:

Washington, D.C. is controlled by establishment politicians who serve Beltway lobbyists instead of the American people. Congress needs fewer career politicians and more outsiders who will fight for the America First agenda. As Governor, I cut regulations, lowered taxes for Missourians, and stood strong with our police officers. In 2022, I plan to do the exact same in Washington.

Sen. Roy Blunt of Missouri, a member of GOP leadership, announced on March 8 that he will not run for reelection.

Greitens resigned as governor in 2018.
