Lawsuit filed over man’s death after arrest in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The husband of a man who died after he was found unresponsive in a Kansas City police station is suing the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners.

Terry Farmer died at a hospital on Dec. 31 and his death was ruled a suicide.

His husband, Bradley Farmer, alleges in the wrongful death lawsuit that detention officers at a police station in northern Kansas City did not provide proper medical care to Terry Farmer when they knew he was suicidal.

Terry Farmer used a metal telephone cord to hang himself in the holding cell.

Police declined to comment on the lawsuit.
