State issues five new medical marijuana facility licenses

KMIZ VEDIT

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services issued five new medical marijuana facility licenses.

Two licenses went to businesses in St. Louis. The other licenses went to companies in Independence, Grain Valley and Trenton.

According to a news release Friday, the state realized during the compliance review process for the licenses that certain infused product facilities submitted duplicate applications. State officials said they ended up merging the redundant licenses and issued the five licenses to the entities next on the list.

The state said that merging the redundant licenses will not affect those facilities’ ability to do what they proposed in their applications.

“Our team is working hard to verify that each licensee is in compliance with the constitutional standards for licensure and that each facility implements what they proposed in their application,” said Lyndall Fraker, director of the DHSS Section for Medical Marijuana Regulation. “Our thorough verification process is in place so that we can maintain the kind of medical program that Missourians voted for—one that is safe and well-regulated.”
