Police: Criminal charges not likely in deadly Mexico ‘disturbance’

EDITOR'S NOTE: This story has been changed to clarify the incident was called in as a "disturbance with a gun."

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mexico police say there likely won't be criminal charges filed after one person was hurt and one died Friday afternoon.

The Mexico Department of Public Safety identified the 66-year-old man killed in the "disturbance with a gun" in the 1000 block of Muldrow Street as Rodney D. Bross.

Bross was from Hannibal, Missouri, but had been staying at the home where the incident happened on and off for more than a year, police said.

A 51-year-old woman who was also hurt was treated at University Hospital and released Sunday, police said. Authorities have not released her name.

Police didn't say how the incident happened, how Bross died or how the unidentified woman was injured.

ABC 17  News asked Mexico Public Safety Department Chief Brice Mesko about a since-deleted Facebook post from a woman who claimed to be the victim in this situation.

Mesko said they could not give me any other information other than what was in the press release.
