One dead, one injured after call of disturbance with gun in Mexico

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police found a man dead and a woman injured after a call of a disturbance involving a gun in Mexico, Missouri on Friday.

Officers found the 66-year-old man and 51-year-old woman after a call at about 3:30 p.m. to the 1000 block of Muldrow Street in Mexico, according to a Mexico Department of Public Safety news release. The woman was taken by ambulance to University Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police say.

Police did not specify how the man died or how the woman was injured or whether foul play is suspected.

"The incident is still under investigation and there is no indication there is any danger to anyone else," police said in the news release.

A neighbor told ABC 17 News that she saw about four cop cars in the area, as well as an ambulance. Another neighbor said that the street was blocked off for roughly four hours and that police were in the area longer. He also said it was not the first time he'd seen police in the area recently.

"Oh they've been there all day, they were there for probably six hours, just left probably 20 minutes ago," the neighbor said. "But within the past two weeks, this is the second time they've been down to the same house but I don't know what the first disturbance was for."
