MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mexico Public Safety Department is reporting that three people were arrested in Illinois driving a stolen vehicle from Mexico.

Last Tuesday, MPSD reported that three vehicles had been stolen on Sunday overnight and that suspects may be from the St. Louis area and a larger group of suspects may be stealing from unlocked cars. Officials say the investigation indicated that some of this same group were in Mexico in November.

On Thursday afternoon, one of the recently stolen cars was found, abandoned in St. Louis.

On Friday morning, Carrollton police located a second stolen vehicle from Mexico as the occupants were attempting to steal a car. Local law enforcement from the Carrollton area arrested three of the four people in the vehicle. They are Corvis D Johnson, 35, of Belridge, MO; Quindarion L Wright, 20, of St. Louis; and Jamie M Dwyer, 22, of St. Charles.

MPSD continues to work with other law enforcement agencies to determine appropriate charges in Audrain County.
