Two teens sentenced in Mexico man’s death
MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)
Two teens were sentenced earlier Wednesday in the shooting death of a man in Mexico.
Demetric Dorsey, 17, was sentenced to 10 years on one count of 1st-degree involuntary manslaughter and 15 years on one count of armed criminal action. Those sentences will run concurrent with each other.
Trebion Dorsey, 17, was sentenced to 5 years, with a 120-day commitment in the Department of Corrections under the shock incarceration program. If Dorsey completes the program, he may be released to probation and remain under the Court's supervision for five years with P&P Supervision and numerous conditions of probation.
Demetric, Trebion and Dekhise Dorsey, who was sentenced in connection with the murder earlier this month, were allegedly at a child’s birthday party when they got in a fight with 27-year-old Tajuan Williams on February 1, 2019 in Mexico. Demetric shot Williams who was running away from the fight.
Officers arrived at Muldrow Street and found Williams with a gunshot wound to his torso, according to a probable cause statement. Williams was conscious at the time and told police “the Dorseys” shot him, the statement said. Williams died at SSM-Audrain.
"The Court considered a significant amount of evidence in sentencing, including testimony from TaJuan Williams' family members, and testimony from Dorsey family members. After reviewing all the evidence, considering the prepared sentencing reports, and hearing argument, the Court sentenced these defendants as the Court believed appropriate." Prosecuting Attorney Jacob Shellabarger said.
