Electricity restored hours after more than 5,000 electric cooperative customers lose power in Camden County
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
More than 5,400 Southwest Electric Co-op members were without power Thursday afternoon in Camden County.
The cooperative reported 5,404 Camden County members in the dark along with other members in Hickory, Dallas, Benton and Polk counties a little after 5 p.m., according to the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives outage map.
At 6:20 p.m., there were 3,049 customers without power and it was restored by 8:20 p.m.
A Southwest Electric spokesman told ABC 17 News in an email that the issue appears to be with its power suppliers.
The spokesman said a tree that fell on a transmission line serving the area.
Temperatures were in the lower 90s throughout the area Thursday afternoon.
