Columbia accepting proposals for American Rescue Plan Act funding

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Columbia was awarded $25.2 million from the federal government to address the health and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic through the American Rescue Plan Act.

The city is now accepting preliminary applications from individuals and organizations for certain project proposals relating to community violence and workforce development.

The federal government had specific categories for how the money could be used and Columbia City Council has identified four areas it would like to prioritize with the first half of the funding ($12.6 million):

  • Homelessness.
  • Community violence.
  • Behavioral crisis care and mental health services.
  • Workforce development.

To access the initial application and additional information about the application process, visit BeHeard.CoMo.gov/ARPA. Funding opportunities for other priority areas will open at a later date.

The initial applications will close Friday, Nov. 11. Following the close date, applicants will be notified if they are selected to submit a full proposal.
