Tracking multiple storm chances through the weekend and a brief warm-up next week

TODAY: I'm tracking a decaying line of showers and storms moving in from Northwestern Missouri this morning that could bring activity for some, but coverage is expected to continue to decrease, leaving most dry by the late morning as temperatures begin in the mid-60s. By the afternoon, slightly more sunshine will peek through clouds along and south of I-70 as temperatures warm into the upper 80s and winds shift into the northwest at 5-10 mph. For areas north of I-70, storm chances will still be a factor as they increase in coverage during the afternoon hours. Stronger winds and small hail could be possible with any storm chances, but the threat of severe weather is rather low.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking better chances for showers and storms arriving by the evening hours, persisting on and off throughout most of the night. The strength of these storms will be decreasing overnight, so severe weather will not be a true concern. By the end of the night, temperatures will be in the mid-60s and winds will be out of the northeast at 5-10 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking scattered showers and storms continuing through most of Sunday morning into the early afternoon hours, leading to a slightly cooler forecast for most in the low 80s. Another slightly lower chance of showers and storms can be expected overnight into Monday morning, but for now, most are trending to stay dry. By Monday afternoon, mostly sunny, hot conditions arrive as upper 80s and low 90s are expected across Mid-Missouri. This warmer weather continues for Tuesday and Wednesday, with low storm chances each afternoon, although the best chances will stay mostly north of the area. Slightly better coverage in activity will arrive by Thursday and Friday, and with this will also come cooler temperatures, with low to mid 80s returning to the forecast.
