Missouri State Highway Patrol recovers boater’s body following crash

MILLER COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Searchers recovered the body of an Illinois man Saturday morning following a crash the night before.

The driver of a boat on Lake of the Ozarks died Friday evening, according to a crash report from Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F responded to a fatal boat crash at 6:45 p.m. Friday. Four people were on the boat, all from Illinois. Two passengers have serious injuries and one has minor injuries, but the driver died in the crash.

The driver, 41-year-old Timothy A. Ridens, was going too fast for the conditions on the lake when the boat hit a wake causing him to be thrown from the boat, according to the crash report. The passengers hit the boat but were not ejected.

His body was not found until around 11 a.m. Saturday morning.

Camden County Medical Examiner pronounced Ridens dead at the scene.

Highway Patrol, Camden County Sheriff's Office and Lake of Ozarks Fire Department responded to the crash.
