Osage Beach man drowned at Lake of the Ozarks after canoe capsizes
LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. (KMIZ)
UPDATE, 6:50 p.m.: The Highway Patrol identified the man that drowned at the Lake of the Ozarks as Somodd Kong, 24, of Osage Beach.
The report from the patrol said Kong and 28-year-old Nicholas Compton were in a canoe together when it capsized. Compton made it back to shore, but Kong did not.
ORIGINAL: Missouri State Highway Patrol divers have found the body of a man who went missing after a canoe capsized Tuesday.
The agency said in a tweet that patrol divers found the man at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday in 17 feet of water. The patrol did not immediately identify the man but said more information would be available later on its online drowning reports page.
A search began at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the lake's 19-mile marker, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. One man swam to safety but another remained missing Wednesday morning, according to the patrol.
The patrol's dive team began searching in the water at 10 a.m. Wednesday, the patrol said.
