Sodexo to lay off more than 60 employees after losing Lincoln University contract

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Sodexo in Jefferson City will close and lay off its 63 employees after Lincoln University chose to stop using the business’ services, according to a WARN notice sent on Monday.
The Working Adjust and Retraining Notification – dated March 6 – states that the Sodexo facility will close on April 30.
“On 2/28/2025, Sodexo received notice from LINCOLN UNIVERSITY that, effective 4/30/2025, the client will no longer use Sodexo to perform technical maintenance and cleaning services at LINCOLN UNIVERSITY. Thus, on or about 4/30/2025, Sodexo will close its operation at this facility and the employment of individuals there by Sodexo will be discontinued. The client has informed us that the client will be providing these services,” the notice states.
Sodexo is giving fewer than 60 days’ notice “because of business circumstances that were not reasonably foreseeable and outside of Sodexo’s control due to Lincoln University’s cancellation of the contract with Sodexo,” the notice says.
