Vehicle hits cyclist in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City cyclist was rushed to a Columbia hospital with moderate injuries after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

Jefferson City Police say Michael Sisson, 75, was riding along Missouri Boulevard in the 2200 block when a Nissan Murano making a left turn from Missouri Boulevard into a private drive hit him. The Nissan driver, Cathy Musick, 58, of Jefferson City was uninjured.

However, Musick's crossover SUV had extensive damage, the Jefferson City Police Department says in a news release.

Sisson was taken by ambulance to a Columbia hospital.

Eastbound traffic was diverted for about 25 minutes, police say. The crash happened at about 1:40 p.m.
