Jefferson City Fire Department responds to house fire early Monday morning

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Firefighters responded to a fire early Monday morning on the 2200 block of Buehrle Drive, according to the Jefferson City Fire Department.

Crews arrived on scene at 2:44 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the back of the home, extending to the roof.

According to the fire department, the fire was put out and there was heavy damage to the first floor, attic and to a deck.

All residents were out of the home when crews arrived.

In a press release, JCFD said a neighbor was injured while they were notifying the residents of the fire and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

One adult and three children were displaced by the fire, according to the Jefferson City Fire Department.

JCFD said the cause of the fire was not determined at the time of the incident.

However, they do advise to use caution when disposing of smoldering materials.
