JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
An empty house was destroyed in a fire in Jefferson City on Wednesday.
East Dunklin Street was closed off by first responders at 7:40 p.m. for the fire on nearby Chestnut. Firefighters began breaking down equipment at 10:10 p.m.
An ABC 17 News reporter saw five firetrucks, an ambulance and two police vehicles.
Jefferson City Fire Chief Matt Schofield told ABC 17 News that a house was on fire. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and the number of injuries have not been determined, but no one was brought to a hospital.
Schofield said the house appeared to be unoccupied.
Another small fire was reported on North 10 Mile Drive according to Schofield, and some firefighters had to be pulled to that call. That call involved a kitchen fire and was contained to one apartment, according to a news release. The fire displaced eight to 10 people.
The house partially collapsed while firefighters were at the scene, according to a Jefferson City Fire Department news release. The building was a total loss.
