Blair Oaks superintendent still on paid leave

WARDSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ) -

The superintendent of Blair Oaks School District will receive his usual pay while on leave.

Earlier this week ABC 17 News reported that Jim Jones took a leave of absence from the Blair Oaks School District. The board of education did not give a reason why Jones took the leave, and the district says there were no written documents Jones gave the board explaining it.

The school district confirmed that Jones will receive his usual paycheck while on leave. This school year, he makes $124,500.

Jones has been superintendent for the Blair Oaks School District since 2003.

In the meantime, high school principal Chris Marshall will serve as acting superintendent. The district says he'll make $500 a week extra on top of his $85,000 yearly salary.

Jones' leave comes just two weeks before the end of the school year.

Neither Jones nor the school board president has said why Jones took the leave.
