Jefferson City police investigating death of 41-year-old man

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City police are investigating the death of a 41-year-old man who officers say was found dead early Thursday morning.

A news release from police department spokesman Lt. David Williams said officers received a call about an individual lying in the road in the 600 block of Commercial Avenue.

Police said William Johnson was found "unresponsive and not breathing." Officers were not immediately able to determine the cause of death, according to the release.

The police department's traffic unit is investigating Johnson's death. Officers ask that local business owners and residents in the area to check security camera footage for people of vehicles in the area before 12:30 a.m.
