Jefferson City buildings to be rehabbed

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Four buildings on East Capitol Avenue will be rehabilitated after their sale to a private developer.

The Jefferson City Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority sold 507, 511, 501 and 513 E. Capitol Ave. to Stitt Barony on Tuesday, according to a news release. The company plans to redevelop the buildings for residential and commercial use, according to the release, and has two years to finish work on them.

The houses are adjacent to each other.

"This work, combined with the development of Ivy Terrace and the restoration of the tornado damaged buildings, will bring life and excitement back to the once regal street,” Cynthia Quetsch, executive director of the Jefferson City Housing Authority, said in a statement.

The Land Clearance Redevelopment Authority is taking bids for property at 101 Jackson St.
