No injuries reported in downtown Jefferson City fire

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Fire Department said Tuesday that no one was hurt in a downtown fire.

Firefighters were sent to the 600 block of East High Street at 9:15 a.m. and found smoke coming from the back of a building, the department said in a news release. Firefighters went inside and had the fire under control within about 10 minutes, the department said.

No one was inside the building when the fire started and no one was injured.

Firefighters were still at the scene at about 11 a.m. finishing their work and waiting for a fire marshal to investigate how the blaze started.

Police helped with traffic control for about an hour and a half, the fire department said.
