JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City officers said Monday Hosea Gaines, 30, was arrested for stabbing a woman and leading police on a chase.

Police responded to a call for a domestic assault involving a knife around 12:30 a.m. at the 3800 block of Candlelight Drive. Officers said a 25-year-old woman was found with several stab wounds at the scene. She allegedly told officers Gaines was hiding inside her residence and attacked her with a knife.

Nearby surveillance video obtained exclusively by ABC 17 News captures the moment police chased the suspect through the 3200 block of Missouri Blvd.

The victim told police she and Gaines had previously dated. He allegedly made threatening statements to her over the past three months including, "I'm going to kill you if you see someone else."

Authorities spotted Gaines' vehicle on US Highway 50 and started a chase on westbound Missouri Boulevard. Police said three tire deflation devices were used on the car between the 2000 and 3400 blocks of Missouri Boulevard. Police said the man continued driving with three deflated tires.

Gaines turned onto W. Truman Boulevard and crashed his vehicle at the 100 block of Ventura Avenue. According to police, the suspect got out of the car and ran toward the victim's residence, officers then successfully fired a stun gun.

Officers allege Gaines had the knife used in the attack with him when he was taken into custody. Online court records show Gaines faces several charges including second-degree domestic assault and second-degree burglary.
