Howard County bridge to stay closed for more than a month
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A bridge that was closed last week will remain closed for more than a month, the Missouri Department of Transportation said Wednesday.
MoDOT closed the Salt Creek bridge on Highway 240 south of Fayette on Thursday, citing structural problems. The agency said at the time that it was unclear how long the 90-year-old bridge would stay closed.
Crews are stabilizing and reinforcing problem areas of the structure, MoDOT said in a release. The work means the bridge will be closed for up to five weeks.
Highway 240 is the primary route connecting Fayette to Highway 40 and Boone County.
