Front of downtown Fulton building collapses

FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)

The front of a building in downtown Fulton collapsed Wednesday, revealing an apartment in the top floor of the two-story building.

No one was reported hurt, Fulton Police Chief Bill Ladwig said. First responders were preparing to enter the building late Wednesday morning, Ladwig said.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the building at 505 Nichols St. to collapse.

The lower floor was occupied by a coffee shop getting ready for a grand opening, Hitchin' Java. The coffee shop posted on Facebook that an espresso machine and generator were inside, so a planned opening this week will not take place.

The apartment tenants on the top floor were not injured, the shop wrote.
