Fulton preparing for businesses to reopen as state stay-at-home order is lifted
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Fulton is one of the many cities in Mid-Missouri preparing to re-open in some fashion in the coming days.
Fulton Mayor Lowe Cannell said Friday that he thinks the timing is appropriate for his city.
Cannell said Fulton residents have done a fantastic job following social distancing guidelines and he believes everyone will continue to work together and abide by whatever guidelines are in place.
Callaway County Commissioner Roger Fischer said the list of where people cannot go under the state reopening order that will take effect Monday is small.
Gov. Mike Parson issued a statewide reopen order this week that will take effect Monday after the stay-at-home order currently in place ends. The order will allow local jurisdictions to make rules more strict than the state's. However, Callaway County plans to operate under the state's rules.
Boone County is among those that will operate under orders more strict than the state's, with an order that will keep businesses including bars and movie theaters closed and limit occupancy in retail establishments.
Those rules allow businesses to be open but requires them to follow social distancing guidelines such as 6 feet between people.
Fischer said the county plans to enforce the state's social distancing guidelines.
