Multiple fires reported in Mid-Missouri over weekend

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Multiple fires were reported this weekend around Mid-Missouri

More than 60 acres caught fire Sunday in Auxvasse, according to a social media post from the North Callaway Fire Protection District.

Four other departments were called in for help. According to the Montgomery County Fire Protection District, someone was burning trash when the flames spread into a neighboring field, jumped over route b, burned another field and then spread into the woods.

In the Lake of the Ozarks area, seven fire departments were called Saturday to Jacobs Hollow, west of Camdenton.

According to a post from the Mid-County Fire Protection District, flames were tearing through a two-family home - high winds also started a natural cover fire.

There were no hydrants, so tankers hauled-in water and a boat used water from the lake. No one was home, but two pets died. Crews were on scene more than four hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
