Trailer fire response shuts down highway near Hallsville

HALLSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

A trailer fire led authorities to shut down part of a highway in northern Boone County on Tuesday morning.

Boone County emergency dispatchers said in a public alert that Route OO was shut down just west of East Doris Boulevard near Hallsville because of a fire. Smoke was pouring from a white trailer with major fire damage when an ABC 17 News reporter arrived.

Firefighters were called to the 9700 block of Route OO at about 9:30 p.m.

Five firetrucks were at the scene along with Hallsville police and a Boone County ambulance.

Three people and two dogs were in the trailer and the people were not injured. The dogs were injured but are doing OK, a Boone County Fire Protection District spokesman said.

The cause is still under investigation. The trailer was a total loss.
