Trailer fire closes one lane of eastbound Route 50 in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

One lane of eastbound Route 50 near Country Club Drive and Truman Boulevard in Jefferson City is closed because of a semi-truck fire.

According to a press release, Jefferson City fire crews saw the fire around 1-20 this afternoon.

Responding crews began working to put out the flames, officials say the fire consumed the front part of the trailer and cargo inside.

The Jefferson City police helped direct traffic.

The cause of the fire is still not known at this time.
