CALIFORNIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A house in California, Missouri, is destroyed after a fire.

Sheriff Tony Wheatley with the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department said deputies responded alongside California Police Department Friday shortly after 1 p.m.

A house on E. South Street, near the fairgrounds, was ruled a complete loss after the fire, Wheatley said.

The sheriff said no people were inside the house at the time of the fire, but that he believes there was a dog in the residence that did not survive.
