QUESTION OF THE DAY: Does the Thomas Jefferson statue on the MU campus need an interpretive sign?
The University of Missouri Board of Curators voted Thursday against adding an interpretive sign next to the statue of Thomas Jefferson on the MU campus.
A task force recommended the sign and a QR code to scan for a link to a website with more information. The panel was appointed after demands that the statue be removed from campus because of Jefferson's role as a slaveholder who fathered children with an enslaved woman.
Jefferson was the third president of the United States and one of the authors of the Declaration of Independence.
