MU to offer satisfactory-unsatisfactory grading system

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

University of Missouri students will be able to choose whether they want to use a different grading system for their spring semester classes, which were interrupted by COVID-19.

Provost Latha Ramchand said in an email Monday that students can choose a satisfactory-unsatisfactory grading system for classes this semester. However, students can also choose to keep the traditional A-F grading system.

In-person classes were suspended this month to slow the spread of COVID-19 and most students who live on campus have returned home.

Students can select which option they want between May 18 and June 5, Lamchand wrote. Satisfactory grades will give students credit for the class but will not factor into their GPA.

The university has also extended the deadline to get a partial refund for withdrawing from a course. Students will be able to get 25 percent of their tuition and fees for a course returned if they withdraw by 5 p.m. April 10. The previous deadline was March 16.
