Lincoln University Board of Curators set to discuss renovation budget and tuition increases
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Lincoln University Board of Curators are set to meet Thursday morning to discuss the renovation budget of Dawson Hall along with tuition and fee increases.
This is also the first meeting for Lincoln University President John Mosley after the independent investigation of Bonnie Candia-Bailey's death by suicide. Independent investigators could find no evidence that Lincoln University played a role in an administrator's death.
Dawson Hall stands 10-stories high with 364 rooms making it the largest residents hall on campus. The construction at Dawson Hall will make the building compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
According to the university, the project cannot exceed $17 million and is set to be completed by spring of 2025.
Last September, the university approved the renovations and to seek out bids for construction. S.M. Wilson & Co. was chosen to manage the Dawson Hall renovation project.
Also on the docket for the BOC meeting is tuition and fee increases. In March of 2023, the board increased tuition along with room and board by about 5% for the 2023-2024 school year.
The undergraduate flat-rate tuition (12-18 credit hours) for in-state students is increasing by $175.50 (from $3,510 to $3,685.50), while out-of-state residents would see a $365.25 increase (from $7,125 to $7,481.25).
Room-and-board costs are going up as well. Those who live in Dawson, Martin or Perry halls would see a $96.25 increase (from $1,939 to $2,035.95), and the unlimited meal plan would see an increase of $98.25 per semester (from $1,965 to $2,063.25).
The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m.
