JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City School District announced plans to extend its Thanksgiving break by two extra days.

The break will now run from Monday, November 22nd until Friday the 26th.

The district says the change is in response to ongoing staffing shortages and not because of rising COVID-19 cases.

In a letter to families, Superintendent Larry Linthacum says Jefferson City schools are committed to keeping classrooms open.
