Record number of students enrolled at Columbia Public Schools
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A record number of students were enrolled on the first day of the year at Columbia Public Schools.
The district said enrollment was 19,196 on Tuesday, an increase of 669 from last year. The number exceeds even pre-pandemic levels, the district said in a news release.
The district's biggest school is Hickman High School in central Columbia, with an enrollment of 2,042. Rock Bridge High School is the second-largest with 2,034 enrollment. Battle High School, which opened in 2013, had 1,610 students.
The elementary school with the highest enrollment is also the newest. Beulah Ralph Elementary in southwest Columbia, which opened in 2016, had 684 students on the first day.
South Columbia's Gentry Middle School had the highest enrollment among middle schools at 743.
