FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)

Westminster College in Fulton announced in a Wednesday press release that this year’s incoming class is its largest since 2016.

The release says 243 freshmen and transfer students this fall were part of the 30% increase from last year.

The release cited the college’s online program and expanding the Department of Student Affairs as possible reasons for the increase.

“It is truly rewarding to see that students and families across the region continue to place a high value on a Westminster education and that, more importantly, we were able to maintain the academic quality of the incoming class while also increasing diversity," Paul Orscheln, vice president of Enrollment Services and Student Affairs, said in the release. “Experiencing a 30% increase in enrollment is a testament to the hard work our faculty and staff put into the recruitment and success of our students.”

Westminster’s not the only Mid-Missouri college with an enrollment increase. The University of Missouri and Stephens College both reported enrollment increases this semester.
