Churchill Fellows Weekend activities canceled at Westminster

FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)

Westminster College said Monday that it will cancel Churchill Fellows Weekend activities set for later this month.

The college in a news release said it was suspending those activities, set to take place March 14-March 15, because of concerns about the novel coronavirus.

“While no cases of coronavirus have been reported at America’s National Churchill Museum or Westminster College, please know that the health and safety of our patrons and all Churchill Fellows is our utmost concern,” said Timothy Riley, a Churchill Fellow at the college and director of America's National Churchill Museum. “We will reschedule when the rough seas of uncertainty surrounding this illness settle.”

The museum is dedicated to Winston Churchill, who delivered his famous Iron Curtain speech in 1946 at the college.

Full refunds will be issued to those who registered for events, the college said. The museum will remain open.

Museum staff have "increased sanitation in all areas of the Museum," according to the release.
