Police investigate shooting outside of south Columbia residence

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Police Department said officers investigated an early Thursday morning shooting outside of a south Columbia residence.

A release from the police department said officers responded to the 3600 block of Aspen Heights Parkway around 12:40 a.m. on a report of shots fired in the area.

Police said several shell casings were found at the scene. No injuries or property damage was reported.

A resident told authorities that a man had been removed from a party and then fired several shots into the air. The man got in a pickup truck and drove away, the resident said.

Police said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing and that more information would be made available.
