Columbia police arrested two people after a crash on W. Worley Street Tuesday afternoon resulted in a shooting.

A release from the Columbia Police Department said 41-year-old Cale Thurston was arrested on suspicion of shooting at the other driver following the crash.

Police say Thurston and 31-year-old Shaun Ennis crashed in the 2200 block of W. Worley and then drove down the road to the Columbia Mall.

According to the release, when both vehicles had stopped Thurston pulled out a gun and shot at Ennis, ultimately hitting the other man's vehicle.

Officers said neither man was hurt in the crash or the shooting.

Thurston was arrested on suspicion of assault, armed criminal action, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful use of a weapon, among other apparent crimes.

Police said Ennis was arrested on suspicion of careless and imprudent driving.

Boone County Jail records say Ennis has since posted bond and that Thurston was being held without bond.

Thurston is charged with 1st-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon - subsection 9 - shoot at/from motor vehicle and endangering the welfare of a child.

Thurston's next court date is next Wednesday and then a case review on Feb. 3.
