COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Moberly woman accused of a recent killing at Columbia drive-thru has returned to prison.

Boone County Assistant Prosecutor Morley Swingle said Angelica Benitez was taken back to the Missouri Department of Corrections on a parole warrant on Tuesday. She had been in Boone County Jail custody after being arrested last week.

Benitez faces multiple felonies and is accused of the shooting death of 25-year-old Marqukis Hayes.

A prison spokeswoman said Benitez been in prison from July 2017 to February 2020 after she allegedly violated the terms of probation linked to a 2015 assault case. She was released from prison on parole.

Online court records say the next court hearing in her case is set for Jan. 6, 2021.
