Benton County woman arrested after man dies from shooting

WARSAW, Mo. (KMIZ)

Benton County Sheriff's Department has arrested a woman after a report of a scuffle leads to a shooting Tuesday.

According to a release from the department, Patricia Garvey, 63, reported Jason Swanson, 37, was shot in the upper torso after a scuffle with a 12 gauge shotgun.

When deputies arrived, Swanson was reported dead from his injuries.

Officials report that the Division of Drug and Crime Control was called (DDCC) to process the scene.

After the investigation, Garvey is charged with 1st-degree involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action.

Garvey had a hearing Wednesday and entered a plea of not guilty.

A bond of $200,000 cash or surety was set for Garvey.

Garvey's next court day is Jan. 5.
